MFA in DANCE & SOMATICS
The Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) Degree in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Colorado, Boulder is pleased to announce the addition of GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® to the MFA Somatic Emphasis. Once graduate students have been accepted to the MFA program they are encouraged to select a secondary emphasis of study beyond choreography, performance, and pedagogy. The Somatic Emphasis now includes GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® certification offered at Gyrotonics Bodhi Studio in Boulder, Co.
If you are interested in applying to the MFA program so that you can concurrently work on GYROTONIC® and or GYROKINESIS® certification, or are already a graduate student in the MFA and are interested in the GYROTONIC® and or GYROKINESIS® focus please contact Nada. There are two in-depth teacher training programs available for those interested in teaching the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods. The Gyrotonic Level 1 Teacher TrainingProgram is available for those interested in becoming a Gyrotonic Trainer and the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Teacher Training Program is available for those interested in becoming a Gyrokinesis Trainer. After successfully completing one of the level 1 teacher training programs, Trainers continue to develop their teaching skills by taking specialized courses in the method(s) they are qualified to teach. The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods are complementary. Some people choose to pursue training in one of the methods, while some study both.
GYROKINESIS® LEVEL I TEACHER TRAINING
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
This program teaches students to conduct both of the classes in the Gyrokinesis level 1 curiculum- the Gyrokinesis level 1, format 1class, and the Gyrokinesis level 1, format 2 class. The 138 hour program is composed of four sequential courses. Students typically begin teaching the Gyrokinesis method in the role of Apprentice within 3-6 months after beginning the program. It typcailly takes 1-1.5 years to complete the full program and become a Gyrokinesis Trainer.
Those who successfully complete the program are qualified to teach the Gyrokinesis level 1 exercise curriculum in the role of Certified Gyrokinesis Level 1 Trainer. Certified Gyrokinesis Trainers are eligible to enroll in Gyrokinesis Specialized Courses.
The Gyrokinesis Level I Teacher Training Program begins with the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Pre-Training Course, which is designed to give you an understanding of the Gyrokinesis Level I exercises, & prepare you physically for the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Foundation Course that follows. The Gyrokinesis Level 1 Foundation Course expands on the lessons in the Pre-Training Course, & is also where students learn the teaching skills & techniques specific to the Gyrokinesis method. The Gyrokinesis Level 1 Apprenticeship period follows. During this period, which can last up to one year, Apprentices receive a trademark license allowing them to teach Gyrokinesis level I exercises in the role of Gyrokinesis Apprentice. Apprentices are required to teach a minimum of 30 Gyrokinesis classes & to attend a Supervised Apprenticeship Course with a Gyrokinesis Master Trainer during their apprenticeship period.
The program ends with the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Final Certificate Course. This is the opportunity for Apprentices to demonstrate their teaching skills and their understanding of the Gyrokinesis level I curriculum. Those who successfully complete this course, by demonstrating a competent understanding of the Gyrokinesis level I course curriculum, are issued a Gyrokinesis Trainer certification and a trademark use license allowing them to teach the Gyrokinesis level I exercises in the role of Gyrokinesis Trainer. Gyrokinesis Trainers are required to fulfill continuing education requirements every two years, and are eligible to register for Gyrokinesis Specialized Courses.
GYROKINESIS® LEVEL I TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM
COURSES
01GYROKINESIS® L1 PRE-TRAINING COURSE
Purpose: To provide a foundational understanding of the Gyrokinesis level 1 exercises and prepare students physically for the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Foundation Course. During this course students
focus on gaining experience, and developing a personal understanding of the exercises on the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Pre-Training Course exercise list.
Prerequisites: An experienced Gyrokinesis student, with a basic understanding of the Gyrokinesis, level I class formats. Students should take a minimum of 10 or more Gyrokinesis classes with a certified Gyrokinesis Trainer prior to registering for this course.
Conducted by: A Gyrokinesis Pre-Trainer or a Gyrokinesis Master Trainer
Duration: 6 days/30 hours
Cost: $550 course fee & $300 deposit/studio fee
Upon successful completion: Once students have successfully completed the Gyrokinesis Level I Pre-Training Course, they are qualified to proceed to the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Foundation Course.
02 GYROKINESIS® L1 FOUNDATION COURSE
Purpose: To provide a more in depth understanding of the exercises in the Gyrokinesis level I 6o minute format class and 90 minute format class, and provide students with the specific skills and techniques to teach these exercise sequences to others. During this course, a Gyrokinesis Master Trainer introduces the principles, and teaching techniques underlying the Gyrokinesis level 1
exercise syllabus.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of the Gyrokinesis Level I Pre-Training Course.
Conducted by: A Gyrokinesis Master Trainer
Duration: 9 days/45 hours
Cost: $950 Course Fee & $450 deposit/studio fee
Upon successful completion: Once students successfully complete the Gyrokinesis Level 1 Foundation Course, they are considered a Gyrokinesis Level I Apprentice. At this stage the Gyrokinesis Level I apprenticeship period begins and students are granted a trademark license that allows them to teach Gyrokinesis classes in the role of Apprentice. The apprenticeship license is valid for 1 year.
03 GYROKINESIS® L1 APPRENTICESHIP
Purpose: To help apprentices review and practice the Gyrokinesis Level I Foundation Course material and prepare for the Gyrokinesis Level I Final Certification Course. During the
apprenticeship period apprentices are required to complete 30 “teaching client” hours and a minimum of 15 supervised apprenticeship hours. Apprentices complete their supervised apprenticeship hours under the guidance and supervision of a Gyrokinesis Master Trainer, either in the form of a Gyrokinesis Apprenticeship Course, or by re-taking the Gyrokinesis Foundation Course.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of the Gyrokinesis Level I Foundation Course
Conducted by: A Gyrokinesis Master Trainer
Duration: 6-12 months
Cost: $350 course fee & $150 deposit/studio fee

04 GYROKINESIS® L1 FINAL CERTIFICATE COURSE
Purpose: The purpose of this course is two-fold. It is an education course and it is also a
practical assessment of the students’ teaching skills and their understandingof the Gyrokinesis
Level I curriculum. To successfully complete this course, apprentices must physically execute and demonstrate the exercises and principles from the Gyrokinesis Level I Foundation Course syllabus. Additionally, apprentices must apply the appropriate verbal cues and physical guidance to a
moving person according to the Gyrokinesis Level I Foundation Course manual.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Gyrokinesis level 1 Apprenticeship requirements. There must be a minimum of 6 months, and maximum of 1 year apprenticeship period between the foundation course, and the final certificate course.

Duration: 3 Days/15 hours

GYROTONIC® Level 1 Teacher Training
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
In this program students learn to design, and teach a progressive sequence of Gyrotonic Level 1 exercise classes on the Gyrotonic Pulley Tower Combination Unit. The 188 hour program is composed of four sequential courses. Students typically begin teaching the Gyrotonic method in the role of Apprentice within 3-6 months after beginning the program. It typically takes 1-2 years to complete the full program and become a Certified Gyrotonic Trainer.
The Gyrotonic Level 1 Teacher Training Program begins with the Gyrotonic Level 1 Pre-Training Course, which is designed to give you an understanding of the Level 1 exercises, & prepare you physically for the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course that follows. GYROTONIC® Level 1 Teacher Training Program

01 GYROTONIC® PRE-TRAINING COURSE
Purpose: To provide a foundational understanding of the Gyrotonic level 1 exercises and prepare students physically for the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course. For students who do not have access to Gyrotonic classes, a three day introductory course designed to provide an introduction to the Gyrotonic level 1, progression 1 exercises can be taken before the Pre-Training Course.
Conducted by: A Gyrotonic Pre-Trainer or a Gyrotonic Master Trainer.
Duration: Minimum 6 days/30 hours
Cost: $850 course fee & $300 deposit/studio fee
Upon successful completion: Once students have successfully completed the Gyrotonic Level 1 Pre-Training Course, they may proceed to the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course.
02 GYROTONIC® FOUNDATION COURSE
Purpose: To provide a more in-depth understanding of the Gyrotonic level 1curriculum and provide students with the specific skills and techniques needed to teach these exercises to others. During this course, a Gyrotonic Master Trainer introduces the teaching techniques and principles underlying the Gyrotonic level 1 exercise syllabus and introduces the complete Gyrotonic, level 1 exercise curriculum.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of the Gyrotonic Level 1 Pre-Training Course.
Conducted by: A Gyrotonic Master Trainer.
Duration: Minimum 12 days/60 hours
Cost: $1500 course fee & $450 deposit/studio fee
Upon successful completion: Once students successfully complete the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course, they are considered a Gyrotonic Apprentice. At this stage the Gyrotonic Level 1 Apprenticeship period begins and students can begin teaching the Gyrotonic level 1 exercises they have learned in the role of Gyrotonic, Level 1 Apprentice. The apprenticeship license is valid for 1 year.
03 GYROTONIC® APPRENTICESHIP
Purpose: To help Gyrotonic Level I Apprentices expand their experience and understanding of the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course material and prepare them for the Gyrotonic Level 1 Final Certificate Course. During the apprenticeship period students are required to complete 60 “teaching client” hours and a minimum of 30 supervised apprenticeship hours. Apprentices complete their supervised apprenticeship hours under the guidance and supervision of a Gyrotonic Master Trainer, either in the form of a Gyrotonic Apprenticeship Course, or by re-taking the Gyrotonic Foundation Course.
Prerequisites: Successful completion of the Gyrotonic Level 1 Foundation Course
Conducted by: A Gyrotonic Master Trainer supervises the 30 hours of supervised hoursrequired in this course. These hours are completed in the form of a Gyrotonic Apprenticeship Course. Teaching client hours are conducted independently by the Apprentice.
Duration: 6-12 months
Cost: $700 course fee & $300 deposit/studio fee
Upon successful completion: Once Apprentices have successfully completed all of the apprenticeship requirements, they can proceed to the Gyrotonic Level 1 Final Certificate Course.
04 GYROTONIC® FINAL CERTIFICATE COURSE
Purpose: The purpose of this course is two fold. It is an education course and it is also a practical assessment of students' teaching skills and their understanding of the Gyrotonic Level 1 curriculum. Upon successful completion: Upon successfully completing the Gyrotonic Level 1 Final Certificate Course, students are considered Certified Gyrotonic Trainers, and are granted a trademark use license.
